The film has its moments, especially since it’s based on the Hollywood flick ‘The Lovers’ and features two actors venturing into new territory – Pratik Gandhi and Sendhil Ramamurthy. On paper, this should be hilarious and heartwarming!
Unfortunately, it falls a bit short. The whole premise of a long-married couple somehow not realizing the other is cheating is a little too hard to swallow, especially since we’re told they know each other inside out.
Don’t get me wrong, there are sparks! The backstory showing how Kavya and Ani fell for each other adds some depth. Ironically, their chemistry with their lovers feels a bit forced.
The best bits happen in Ooty when Kavya deals with family tensions. The dash of dark humour and a peek into her prickly relationship with her father gives the film a much-needed edge.
